A singer-songwriter is about to set the "Nashville" stage on fire in the upcoming episodes of the ABC musical drama series.

According to TV Line, Illinois native Jessy Schram has officially joined the cast of "Nashville" season 4 and is scheduled to appear in episode 10. She will portray the character of Cash Gray, a singer who has been endowed with the gift of writing her own songs. Cash has reportedly dreamt of becoming a star for the longest time and has co-written several songs with country songstress Kacey Musgraves.

While this may seem impressive to viewers and potentially problematic to other singers who may see her as a threat, it is important to note that Cash is keeping a secret. She is estranged from her father, who is a recovering alcoholic. As she deals with his constant pleas to make amends, will she be able to concentrate on her music and achieve her greatest dream?

IMDb notes that Schram hails from Skokie, a quaint village in Cook County. A natural performer since early childhood, she has starred in several television shows like "Falling Skies" and "Life." The actress also played a role in "Last Resort" and in "Harvest Moon," which was released earlier this month. Schram herself is a solo artist who writes her own song. She has been touring with Joan Baby's soul band and performing at places like The Knitting Factory and Hard Rock Cafe, among others.

Meanwhile, recent reports claim that "Nashville" may not be renewed after season 4. According to TV by the Numbers, the series is included in the list of popular TV shows on ABC that may end up being canceled by 2016. The current rankings show that it is at 1.08 in the 18–49 rating with 0.64 renew/cancel index. It was also mentioned that while the first two seasons did decently in ratings, the viewers steadily declined for the last installments.

Due to Thanksgiving, "Nashville" will return on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
