New 'Star Wars' skin packs released for Minecraft

Minecraft Mojang

PlayStation players who are fans of "Star Wars" and "Minecraft" can now get the best of both worlds as a couple of new skin packs depicting the iconic characters of the interplanetary franchise are coming to the popular sandbox game.

The first pack is called the Classic Skin Pack. As the name suggests, gamers who buy this bundle will get iconic characters from the franchise such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca. There are also versions of Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 as well as Admiral Ackbar, Greedo and Wampa.

The second "Star Wars"-themed skin pack coming to "Minecraft" is called Star Wars Rebels. It has skins for Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus and even the C1-10P astromech unit better known as Chopper. Every single creature in the Rebel group has a skin included in this pack. Dispatch Times says that new generation fans will appreciate this pack more.

According to the aforementioned site, there will be no less than 70 characters from across the sprawling "Star Wars" universe to be given their sandbox versions with the new "Minecraft" skin packs. Those interested can purchase the bundles separately for $3 each from the PlayStation Store

The price tag, as iDigital Times noticed, is a bit cheaper than usual. Skin packs with the "Skyrim" and "Mass Effect" themes were priced at $3.99 per piece. These "Star Wars" skin packs were initially released as exclusives to the Xbox console.

Mojang has been generous in having different universes collide with that of their own block-based game. Months back, the game studio released a special skin pack with "The Simpsons" characters and even "LittleBigPlanet." In addition, modders made the title more fun and diverse by amalgamating "Pokemon" and "Fallout" in it.
