Miguel Cotto next fight rumors: Juan Manuel Marquez coach ready for Puerto Rican challenge

Juan Manuel Marquez responded to Freddie Roach's call of a possible fight with Miguel Cotto and the Mexican brawler seems to be interested.

Roach said recently that Marquez would be the "perfect opponent" for Cotto, although all that can only happen if Marquez still has plans of returning to the ring.

Marquez hasn't fought since 2014 after defeating Mike Alvarado and has been kept in the sidelines due to bothersome knees. For now, there is still no certainty if Marquez will return to the ring.

Speaking to Golpe a Golpe, Marquez mentioned that such would indeed be an interesting fight, although he did have some reservations on a couple of things.

As speculated, Marquez is curious on the agreed weight in which the fight would happen and that it would all depend on his current state. Further to that, he needs to sit down and discuss with his family if it would be wise for him to get back into the ring.

Marquez' family is not too keen to see "El Dinamita" fight again, so such is another condition that needs to be addressed.

As reported by BoxingScene.com, Marquez could ask for a "rehydration clause" as well, citing that Cotto could gain additional weights the following day, which would place the Mexican at a weight disadvantage.

A return by Marquez is seconded by his trainer, Nacho Beristain, telling Fox Deportes that Marquez could return since his boy didn't (officially) retire anyway.

For what it is worth, the good news is that Marquez is open to the idea of facing Cotto. But the reality of it all is that all of this remains "talk" since the fight cannot be made official unless Marquez gets the clearance to return to the ring.

That and, of course, the conditions have to be on the table if and when both camps eventually decide to start negotiating for a promising tiff.
