The "Your key to success" image that Microsoft published a few days ago is not a picture of a new Surface Book 2. It is a cropped image of the original Surface Book.
Surface fans got excited a few days ago when the Surface Instagram account published a photo believed to be the highly speculated Surface Book 2. The keys and the keyboard cover is black and somehow highlights the hinge, which is a problem with the first generation of the laptop. The hinge seems to have been reworked.
However, it was not the case. Windows Central mentioned that the image is said to be a screen-capture of an internal company "sizzler" video that shows the different ideas that Microsoft has come up for its upcoming device. Still, the company wants the populace to know that there will be a Surface Book 2. The report also mentioned that, based on their sources, prototypes of the upcoming device are already in existence and are colored black or made out of a dark metal. It is still unclear if that is because they were prototypes, or it is the new color for the upcoming device, or an additional choice, aside from the silver/magnesium design. Incidentally, a post coming from Microsoft's Rudy Huyn debunked the news immediately. Huyn said, "Hey @verge and @windowscentral, sorry but it's a promo image of the original Surface book... ;)"
The Surface Book 2 has been rumored to be released by 2017 and will coincide with the release of Windows 10 Redston 2 version. Numerous reports suggest that the device will feature a Kaby Lake processor, an upgraded display screen, a stronger battery life, and additional Surface Pen features.
Other reports also suggest that the new laptop will be unveiled in October, but The Verge believes that the new Surface all-in-one will surface in that month. The three models will come with different three screen sizes, at, 21-inch full HD, 24-inch 4K, and 27-inch at 4K resolutions.
Currently, Microsoft has not issued any statement with regards to the image or with the Surface Book 2.
