A week before Microsoft is expected to release the first Windows 10-powered phones, more leaks spring up. This time, it is all about the Lumia 950 XL, which flaunts its front and back in a press render posted on Twitter by leakster Evan Blass.
As seen in previous leaks, the device's side has the power button between the volume-up and volume-down buttons. A dedicated camera button is placed further down. The device looks sleek even with polycarbonate, and its primary camera is comparatively larger than that of the Lumia 950.
The leak comes mere days after the slides from an internal presentation within the company made the rounds. Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is said to come in a 5.7-inch Quad HD display. It is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood and a hefty 3,300-mAh battery.
The huge battery on its rear should keep the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL alive long enough for users to go about the things they will usually need it for. But for those on the go and always need it powered on, the flagship's QuickCharge technology and wireless charging should come in handy.
Another big deal to look forward to about the device is its iris scanner, which it will use as its primary biometric security measure. This will work hand in hand with the Windows Hello feature of Windows 10. Users will only need to look into the camera to unlock the device with this feature.
If the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL really is getting the iris scanner, which is what the rumors have been claiming, it will be one of the first flagships to don such a technology. Not many devices have such a sensor, and most of those that do have it are almost always available in Asia only.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL should be launched on Oct. 6 with its smaller counterpart, the Lumia 950, as well as the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Microsoft Band 2.
