'Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain' gameplay: Unlock Secret Mission 46

 Konami

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" was released only last Sept. 1 but some gamers have already combed through the stealth game enough to discover a secret mission, which apparently reveals to successful players the video game's "real" ending.

Gamers who want in on the secret have a set of requirements to fulfill. They have to complete all the story missions except for Mission 45 and 47-50. They have to finish every Side Ops marked yellow. These are the central ones that feature characters like Huey and Strangelove.

As part of discovering the secret — almost mythical — mission, players have to upgrade their Mother Base up to a certain level as they progress in the game's story mode. If they do this right, Mission 45 should be close to being unlocked.

Fully accessing Mission 45 requires players to do all Side Ops 150, a mission which has its own pre-requisites. These include finishing Mission 11 without killing Quiet to make her a "Buddy." From there, players must establish a solid bond with her.

When that's settled, gamers also need to make sure to view the "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" cutscene at the Mother Base, the one that shows Huey exiled. All throughout, they must stay away from the butterfly design as an emblem. If all these are done successfully, players will find themselves in Mission 46.

Another hidden nugget in "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is the weapons customization option. Players will have to do tons of Side Ops here, too, in order to enjoy this feature. They need to start off with Side Op 107, which comes after Mission 13. Players should complete Side Ops 108 and 109 after that as well. When that's done, players should be able to customize their gear from the iDroid interface. They can go to Mother Base > Customize > Weapons and select a weapon.
