For Andre Berto, being selected to fight perhaps the best pound-for-pound boxer in Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be one of the highlights of his career.

Despite the fact that he is not among the big names in the world of boxing these days, getting a chance at the undefeated boxer regardless of the odds is a blessing as it is. But apparently, the 32 year old boxer intends to do much more than duck and move. He intends to put up a good fight and try to pull off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Everyone knows that Berto is a perennial underdog against Mayweather who is looking to win one more fight to reach the unprecedented 49–0 record. This will allow him to tie another boxing great Rocky Marciano.

And make no mistake about it; many believe that such is the reason why Berto was chosen. A virtual unknown despite the fact that he is a former World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF champion), folks have virtually written off the Haitian-born boxer.

Berto is 30–3 with 23 KOs, an impressive batting average for someone who is not ranked. But his last six fights show an even 3–3 win-–loss card, hardly something that can pull up his stock.

With everyone not minding him, it seems Berto could care less of what other people think. He goes on to say that he will go for what he believes and deep inside knows the work he has put in can more or less help him achieve victory or in the eyes of many, an upset.

For the record, how does he intend to deal with Money Mayweather?

"I think my combination of speed and power that I bring to the table and at same time I believe I have the athletic ability to keep up with Floyd as well," says Berto in an interview with media.

Berto promises a fight where he will showcase his speed, power and skill but the more important task at hand is for him to solve one puzzle — Mayweather defensive matrix.

Many fighters have fallen before carrying practically what he has, big named fighters at that. But in the end, it is all about breaking the Mayweather defense, something that hopefully Berto has taken into consideration.
