Marvel fans rejoice as ABC has confirmed that "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" season 4 will be released this year.

According to Den of Geek, the release of this series will be on Sept. 20, and it's purported to have a darker, edgier tone than the previous seasons, hence the change in time slot. After all, the end of the third season revealed a powerful Inhuman, Hive, who's grand scheme is to spread the Terrigen Mist throughout the Earth's surface.

He was foiled in the end, but taking down this ancient Inhuman has cost the life of agent Lincoln Campbell, who tried saving Daisy. The latter went rogue from S.H.I.E.L.D after his death, presumably out of guilt. In any case, according to Hall of Fame Magazine, the new season of this Marvel series will focus on the world where Hive was exiled.

Also, with Campbell's death, viewers were aghast as Coulson resigned from being the agency director. With this, a lot of the agents were engaged in drama, while Holden Radcliffe, the transhumanist scientist, is making preparations to introduce the Life Model Decoys (LMD), allowing agents to live inside these and fight without the risk of dying. These androids will certainly play a big part in season 4, with the agency most likely dealing with these new creations.

Lastly, Game N Guide notes that the inhuman Hellfire might make a comeback in the upcoming season 4 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," as teased by Marvel. This is due to the fact that the Marvel Comics Universe shows that Daisy's Secret Warriors team includes Hellfire. Despite of this, a lot of fans are still hoping that the Ghost Rider will also play a major role as well.

"Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's television extensions. This series was created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.
