"Madam Secretary" season 3 will officially premiere this coming Oct. 2 and the premiere episode, titled "Sea Change," will see Bess McCord (Tea Leoni) and President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) deal with climate change and foreign policy.

According to the synopsis for the first episode, as per KSite TV, a storm will destroy a U.S. Naval Base in Bahrain. Because of the destruction, Bess will ask the President to take a closer look at his policies for climate change and foreign policy, elements that may greatly affect his re-election campaign.

It is possible that the series will force Dalton to alter how his administration looks at the world economy and the environment, possibly leading Dalton to severe ties with the fuel suppliers in the Middle East and reconsider taking a look into renewable sources like solar energy.

Unfortunately, no official trailer has been launched for it yet, and it is unknown how these changes may affect the President's administration throughout season 3. Given how foreign policy is a delicate issue in the real world, it is likely that this plot arc will not be easily resolved in "Madam Secretary" season 3.

The synopsis also reveals that there will be some trouble back at home as Bess and her husband, Henry (Tim Daly), suspect that someone has been stalking them. The issue becomes more urgent when their son's laptop is hacked, and the suspect may have infiltrated their son's school in order to draw them out into the open.

The exact identity of this hacker and what he or she may have against the McCords is still unknown, although fans speculate that it may have something to do with Henry's past as an NSA agent or with Bess' involvement in some of the administration's decisions.

"Madam Secretary," as per Deadline, will premiere on Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
