Apple has released the fifth beta of its upcoming macOS Sierra to developer testers. This version comes just a week after the fourth beta version was release. The company is expected to officially release their latest operating system by fall.
Developers can now download the macOS 10.12 Sierra beta 5, build 16A286A, which contains many bug fixes and improvements. It also contains instructions for setting up the new feature called Auto Unlock. Users should take note that it will require a two-factor authentication to make it work, Neowin reported.
MacWorld added that Apple laptops will now be able to discover iPhones and Apple Watches that are capable of using Apple Pay, which can then be used in its Safari browser feature. Keychain can now remember the user's credentials for Microsoft OneDrive, while Setup Assistant will no longer ask about the user's preference for the iCloud service.
Aside from the desktop operating system, Apple also released to its developer testers the beta versions of iOS 10, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10. iOS 10 also contains bug fixes and improvements such as an issue with the iPhone 6 connected to a Smart Battery Case, and allows third-party music apps to function properly even if the Music app is unseen.
Apple announced the upcoming OS during the Worldwide Developers Conference 2016 last June. The company also changed its name format to put it in line with its naming conversion with its different products, from Mac OS to macOS.
One of the new features of the upcoming OS is its integration with Siri. This will be the first time the digital assistant will be available for Macs, and it will allow users to do voice searches, look up information to quickly add files and several more.
macOS Sierra, iOS 10, watchOS 3 and tvOS 10 are expected to have their public release by mid-September along with the iPhone 7.
