MacBook Air, Pro 2016 release date: New Apple flagships to have big jump in specs and features?

With the recent releases of some flagships in the tech market, particularly the announcements for Microsoft's Surface Book and other mobile workstations, many fans are wondering when will another tech giant, Cupertino-based Apple, will be making its move for the next MacBooks.

Although the Cupertino-based company had just announced a slew of new flagship products and services, some of the more familiar lineups were missing – the 2016 MacBook Air and Pro, as well as a new iPad Air.

While the release of a new iPad Air this year seems chancy at best (with the impending arrival of the professional-level iPad Pro), a new MacBook would've been one of the choice flagship announcements for this period, if only to counter Microsoft's Surface Book.

However, Gospel Herald reported that fans who are waiting for a new iteration for Apple's laptop workhorse will have to wait for much longer, as a new MacBook Air and Pro will only be released come 2016.

Meanwhile, although the new MacBooks won't make it in time for the holidays, Latinos Post listed amped-up upgrades for the new laptop lineups, apparently to make up for the release delay. According to the industry follower, the MacBook Air will come in 13- and 15-inch display models, and both will feature Force Touch tech, and a processor with a newer Skylake-U architecture.

In addition, the new laptop versions may come out as a slimmer yet more powerful device, given that it will have USB Type-C connectivity and a longer battery life. For the professional-level MacBook Pro, the 2016 edition will almost have the same features under the hood, but with a larger RAM option for graphics-intensive performance.

The new MacBooks were also reported to be coming with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950, which is one of the top-liners in video performance cards. As for the release date, Apple has yet to confirm it, but fans expect the new workhorses to make their way into the consumer market by early next year. \
