Macbook Air 2016 release date, specs: Intel Skylake processor?

A lot of people are apprehensive about the MacBook Air 2016, since a lot of recent rumors have pointed out that this much-awaited laptop might not even be released anymore.

According to reports, it seems that the MacBook Air 2016 still has a pending release, due to the fact that this new laptop will undergo a series of various hardware upgrades such as its processor, graphics card and the like. This is despite the fact that various recent reports indicate that the entire Air line for Apple will be discarded, much to the disappointment of various fans.

This is quite logical, considering the fact that right now, several of Apple's upcoming flagship devices already have several leaks that hint at their upcoming release. These include the Apple Watch, the MacBook Pro and the iPhone 7, with lots and lots of reports, rumors and leaks pointing to its specs and even appearance. In contrast, the MacBook Air has not received any updates, which certainly sparks apprehension from a lot of MacBook fans.

The article also reports that it is possible for the MacBook Air to be scrapped eventually, as it has not received any important updates through the years. This is assumed to be because Apple is paving the way for the MacBook Pro 2016. However, if the rumors are to be believed, Apple will certainly lose a lot of clients, since users might not want to spend more cash for the expensive Retina MacBook should it become the only choice for them.

Regardless, it has been reported that even if the MacBook Air 2016 is to be released, users should only expect minor improvements in terms of specs and features. Some of these include new batteries, USB-C ports and Intel Skylake processors and cooling systems.

Lastly, if ever the MacBook Air 2016 is released, it would cost approximately $980 for the 13-inch version.
