MacBook Air 2016 release date, specs rumors: Another media event to happen next month for laptop launch?

Now that Apple has shown the world its latest iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2, tech observers are now looking forward to the other devices that the company has in-store for this year. Fans are particularly looking forward to the revamped versions of the MacBook series, particularly the Air, rumored to launch next month.

Fans have high hopes that an update will happen soon to the company's the laptops. This was after Apple CEO Tim Cook personally replied to a customer's email query about the Mac. Cook said that they "love the Mac," and they are "very committed to it." The big boss even said to "stay tuned," as if hinting for a revelation that will happen soon. Previous reports pointed to an October launch for the new MacBooks.

The MacBook Air 2016 is speculated to arrive with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB Type-C port, one Thunderbolt 2, a headphone jack, and an SD Extended Capacity card slot. The processing power will come from an updated Intel Skylake processor, a higher RAM capacity, and also, a more efficient cooling system. It is also expected to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor, and it is said that it will have a longer battery life.

Siri, the intelligent digital assistant, will definitely be available with the upcoming laptops from the tech giant, courtesy of the macOS Sierra operating system. It is also speculated to have the Touch ID security feature, which is only available to the handheld devices from the company.

Additionally, other sources suggest that the MacBook Air 2016 may carry two size variants, one with a 13-inch display screen and another with a 15-inch display screen, which will reportedly be priced at $980 and $1,100 respectively.

Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro is also expected to have a 2016 version. The powerful laptop is rumored to contain an Intel Kaby Lake processor, an OLED touchscreen panel, and a Touch ID as well. Its trackpad is said to be larger this time around and will feature the Force Touch technology, aside from having a lighter and slimmer design.
