LG G4: New concept image borrows Nexus design, but packs metal casing

The famous LG G3 smartphone was introduced in June and it is most likely that its successor will be released around the same time next year.  Although that's still a long way off, a concept image of the device has already surfaced online.

The new concept image was created by a prominent concept designer, Jermaine Smit. The designer published a video showing his vision of the upcoming LG G4.

The imaginary device shows off a sleek and sophisticated design and a metal casing that everyone yearns for their smartphone. The design slightly resembles the Google Nexus 5. The handset appears to have narrow edges and looks pretty slim compared to its predecessor.

According to Concept-Phones, the latest render packs a 5.5-inch screen display with a 2K pixel resolution, a Snapdragon 805 chipset from Qualcomm paired with 3 GB of RAM, and a 3,450 mAh battery capacity. The smartphone boasts dual front speakers.

At the back, the concept device sports a 16-megapixel shooter equipped with an optical image stabilization feature. The back buttons are also aligned horizontally with the two volume buttons near the On/Off controls.

Meanwhile, the LG G3 features a 5.5-inch True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touchscreen; a quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and a Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 chipset; a 13-megapixel primary back camera with optical image stabilization, phase detection and dual-LED flash; a 2.1 MP front facing camera; and a 3000 mAh battery.

The current LG handset is available in two variants: the 16GB version with 2GB of RAM, and the 32GB model that has 3GB RAM. Both devices are equipped with a microSD slot for additional external storage of up to 128GB. Moreover, they both run on the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS, which can be upgraded to Android 4.4.4 version update.

Buyers can take home the device for $199 with a two-year contract from their chosen carrier. LG Electronics also released other variants of LG G3: the LG G3 Beat and the LG G3 Stylus.
