Fans of "The Legend of Zelda" franchise have been clamoring for a story follow-up on Wii U. While details remain sketchy about the upcoming "The Legend of Zelda" title for the Wii U, another speculation cropped up recently. Apparently, an HD remake is in the works for "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess."
According to industry insider Eurogamer, a Nintendo fan found an icon on the Wii U eShop. Surprisingly, the icon is for an HD version of a "The Legend of Zelda" title. This same "The Twilight Princess HD" title had also been seen on the list on Nintendo's eShop servers. These sightings fueled the rumors that a remake for the title is in development.
"The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" was released in 2006 as one of the final titles for the then-ending GameCube, and also as a game for the launching Wii console.
If the rumors are true, then "Twilight Princess" will join another yet-unnamed "The Legend of Zelda" title for Wii U. Fans are expecting that "The Legend of Zelda" franchise will make it to Wii U as there are still no titles for the series available from the franchise. The last one, "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD," was a direct port from an earlier title, but after that, no titles have followed.
It has long been rumored that Nintendo is already developing the next "The Legend of Zelda" title for Wii U. However, owing to unknown reasons, recent speculations suggested that there will be a delay in the release of the upcoming title. The rumor mill has said that since Nintendo is also developing a new console system, the next "The Legend of Zelda" can be both for Wii U and the upcoming NX system. In addition, it was also rumored that Nintendo has overhauled the upcoming game and completely changed the graphics style for the new title.
