Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) adopted son Noah (Bradley Dubow) will go missing in the upcoming episode of the long-running NBC series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

The official trailer for "Melancholy Pursuit" shows the lieutenant frolicking with her son in a public playground. Minutes later, when she is otherwise engaged in a conversation with someone, she looks around to find Noah but he is not on sight. Benson rushes around the place but try as she might, she cannot locate him. Has he been abducted?

In the upcoming episode, the entire team of the Special Victims Unit (SVU) will be involved in the search for a missing teenage girl. Cartermatt reports that the case will reportedly take an emotional toll on Sgt. Mike Dodds (Andy Karl), as it looks like he is on the verge of a major breakdown. Mike will reportedly crack under pressure after weeks of pushing himself to the limits to prove himself to his boss Benson.

Being the son of Deputy Chief William Dodds (Peter Gallagher), a revered man in the force, Mike has been working hard to step out of his old man's shadow. He feels the weight of being a Dodds and while he appears to be taking it on stride, he is a seething mass inside. He wants to prove his skills to himself, as much as to others. Will he be able to overcome this hurdle?

As for the case on hand, a young girl suddenly disappears and the authorities believe she has been abducted. To find her, the SVU must rely on the DNA evidence that could be connected to the kidnapper. The team must process the data faultlessly, or all hopes of finding the teen on time will go down the drain.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
