Will Forte promises that "The Last Man on Earth" season 2 will "get really fun." The star, who plays Phil Miller and is actually the one who created the hit comedy series, said that they are experimenting on new stories and surprises for fans.

In fact, followers of the post-apocalyptic series will notice that it will take on a different tone, with Forte teasing to The Hollywood Reporter that "we have some things planned that are as light as you can get and as dark as you can get."

The last time viewers saw Phil, aka Tandy, he was running off with Carol (Kristen Schaal), who chose to forgive him after all his lies and schemes. They are off to find a new home, and if "The Last Man on Earth" season 2 preview is any indication, the White House could be their new residence.

Forte said that the two will be "very much a couple now" as Phil tries to make up for what he'd done and start anew by becoming a good person and a good husband to Carol. As Phil changes for the better, fans can still expect their signature weirdness shine through.

Since Carol and Phil are getting out of Tucson, what will become of the crew that has gathered up in Phil's hometown, which includes Melissa, Todd, Erica, Gail and the new and buffer Phil Miller? Forte won't say if viewers will still be able to catch up with them but he implores them to "wait and see."

Nonetheless, it is guaranteed that fans will get to meet Phil's "overachiever" brother in "Last Man on Earth" season 2. In the promo, Mike, who will be played by Jason Sudeikis, is revealed to have been in space the whole time, looking for a survivor of the virus that wiped almost all of mankind.

It will be through him that the show will explore what it's like to live in space alone. Forte teased that Mike will eventually be on the surface of the planet at one point but it remains to be seen how he will shake things up in the upcoming season.

"The Last Man on Earth" season 2 premieres today with "Is There Anybody Out There?" where Phil and Carol go on a road trip.
