At six months of her pregnancy, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, looks as if there is no baby bump at all. Photos of Kate Middleton as she dropped by The Fostering Network in London do not give any clue that she is now 26 weeks pregnant. As she attended the event, she covered her rather tiny baby bump under a loose dark brown Hobbs silk shirtdress as she had tea with social workers, care leavers and kids of the foster care charity.
Prince William's lovely wife was happy to be with the folk as she joined discussions with foster young adults and caretakers during her visit.
"I've heard a huge amount about fostering," Kate told the group as quoted by US Magazine. "It's really great for me to have an opportunity to speak to you."
While there, she also spent time with a "sweetie pie" named Naya, who she thinks is "chubbier than George."
Meanwhile, Kate's hardly-seen baby bump also grabbed the attention of some media outlets. Yahoo, for one, sought explanations as to how Kate manages to look like she is not bearing a baby inside her tummy.
"The way pregnancy settles in each woman is different," FemCare ob-gyn Dr. Teri Benn told Yahoo. "Typically, we expect someone at a normal weight to gain 25 to 35 pounds during their pregnancy. Before 20 weeks, everything is below the belly button so the belly is concealed lower down in the pelvis. At 20 weeks, the top of the uterus is at the belly button, so that's when you will start seeing pregnancy in most women."
Her height may also be the culprit, Yahoo adds. Prince George's mommy stands at 5 feet 9 inches. In addition, Dr. Benn speculated that a big factor may also be the clothes she wears.
"Often, the clothes we see Kate in have a lot of material. If she was wearing a T-shirt and exercise pants, I bet you'd be able to see her pregnancy," the doctor said.
Mail Online also asked Rochdale Infirmary obstetrician and gynecologist Malcolm Dixon about the duchess' tiny tummy.
"Kate's an athletic soul. She's also quite a slender girl and they tend to hold bumps well, too. If you've already got a bit of fat around the stomach, a small baby bump might appear larger, whereas if you're slim there's nothing to show except the baby," Dixon stated. "It makes no difference to how big the baby will be when it arrives — it's just how it looks."
