Kamvas GT-191 better than Cintiq 13HD for beginner digital artists

The Huion Kamvas GT-191 has been out in the market since July this year, and it has slowly earned the title of best drawing tablet for beginner digital artists.

The Kamvas is one of the largest tablets in the market at the price range of $500. It has a 19.5 inch In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel working at 16:9 aspect ratio and 3000:1 contrast ratio. This tablet will be able to display seven million colors. The wide LCD is not a touch screen so artists can lay their hands safely on the face of the tablet without worrying of getting their work ruined. Zooming in and out at an A4 setting will no longer be an issue for the Kamvas. The tablet comes with a screen protector, but most artists would find it too thick to work with.

Pen sensitivity is marked at 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity. The same pen sensitivity the Cintiq 13HD offers. This means that the pen for the Kamvas will be great for line works and initial sketches, as well as fine-lining and detailed out-lining. Lines will register smooth, nice, and highly accurate. There is a noticeable parallax when drawing straight lines that is almost as familiar when using a Mobile Studio Pro. The pen, however, does not come with an eraser, but instead there are two buttons where users can freely set their preferred settings while doing artworks and such.

There is a stand for the tablet included in the package, giving artists a free choice into what angle they prefer while working. Attaching the stand, however, will make the entire device heavy. This downside will clearly make the Huion tablet a permanent part of an artist's workspace rather than a device that can be carried anywhere.

Unlike most drawing tablets, the Huion Kamvas has no button on the side. This is a setback for some, since the presets help a lot in streamlining the workflow. However, having a keyboard near will remedy this offset.

Nihongogamer recommends the Huion Kamvas GT-191 to artist who are transitioning to the digital fold since the table costs twice as less as the ones on top of the competition, but offers the same kind of features and functionality.
