Justin Bieber's mum Pattie Mallette prayed for her son to encounter God on his 22nd birthday

As Justin Bieber reinvents himself in the music scene and vows to turn over a new leaf for his fans, his mother Pattie Mallette's prayer on his 22nd birthday was for God to guide him.

In a Twitter post, Malette, who is a devout Christian posted her wish for her son, who went from being a YouTube sensation in his teens to being one of the world's biggest pop superstars.

"22 years ago I was 18yrs old, pregnant & scared. But God. Lord encounter @justinbieber for his bday! Give him all I couldn't in Jesus name," Mallette posted on Twitter.

For a while, it seemed like the relationship between mother and son was becoming more strained because of the series of escapades the singer had gotten himself into.  In addition to constant partying, he was arrested for drunk driving and got in trouble over public nudity.

He admitted in an earlier interview that the reason for his decision to distance himself from his mother was because he never wanted his mom to be disappointed with him and his behaviour.

"I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her," he said.

Bieber, in his recent Instagram post has been sharing his journey with God, GodVine reported.

"I'm not religious nor do I think I have ANYTHING figured out that's why I call out on God to help me through what I can't do on my own. Developing my relationship with God has been the coolest thing I've experienced, to know that I'm not alone and I don't have to live in fear. Never feel like I'm pushing anything on u but sharing the good news I've felt in my own life," he confided in one of his captions.

He also shared his newfound appreciation for Christian music, and has often been seen at Hillsong services.

He however, recently reminded his fans not to worship him or any other pop star because he is not God and seeing him as God would only lead to "pride".
