There is apparently a lot in store for Netflix's growing list of television shows that are all set within the same Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the upcoming months and years. Fans are, of course, now at the edge of their seats to find out about the next set of events that will be transpiring in the second season of "Jessica Jones."

The hype has been somewhat increased as well due to the upcoming release of several other television shows that are all interconnected with the show itself.

For the second season of "Jessica Jones," a brand new villain is expected to be featured seeing as Jessica Jones — played by Krysten Ritter — has already defeated the first season's main antagonist, Kilgrave (who was played by David Tennant). The last few episodes of the show also ended on quite a serious note regarding the battle between good and evil, which indicates that the next season could be following the same theme.

According to the latest reports, the multi-awarded veteran actress Sigourney Weaver may be cast as the main antagonist in the next season.

The claims originated from Weaver's appearance during the recently held New York Comic Con. During the event, it was also confirmed that Weaver will be joining the cast of "The Defenders." Seeing as all of the upcoming shows will be taking place in the same MCU, it wouldn't be farfetched to assume that Jessica Jones may be facing against Weaver's character in "Jessica Jones" season 2.

However, before fans will be able to find out for sure, there are still several other shows that will be airing before "Jessica Jones" season 2 comes out in 2018.

Netflix is set to release several other shows in the coming months which will include new seasons for "Luke Cage," "Daredevil," "Iron Fist," and the debut of "The Defenders" crossover mini-series.
