iPhone 8 release date, specs, rumors: Apple to introduce a bigger and bezel-free smartphone?

Apple is said to introduce a major redesign when it comes to its next smartphone model. It is now speculated that the iPhone 8 will be offered with a bigger screen and will almost take the whole front with its edge-to-edge design.

The smartphone community is anxious to see how the Cupertino-based tech giant will celebrate 10 years for its iPhone product. It is speculated to be in a big way as it said to offer bigger iPhone 8. It is said that the standard model will have a 5-inch screen, while the Plus variant will sport a 5.8-inch one, according to 9To5Mac.

Other reports also suggest that it will be an almost bezel-less device, which seems to be the trend by other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, ZTE, Elephone, and Oppo, just to name a few. The iPhone 7 offers a large bezel when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge.

Going for a bezel-less design also offers some technical difficulties. This means that the Touch ID home button needs to be integrated into the display, as well as its FaceTime camera needs to be relocated. However, the company has already patented several designs on how to incorporate its camera on the screen.

Additionally, OLED screens are also said to be on its way with the alleged device. Although Apple has chosen the best LCDs in the market, the company has to let it go for a much better one. There is no denying that colors behave differently and in a good way, on the newer technology. OLED screens are much more energy efficient. It is also suggested that Apple could go for curved screen design, similar to other competitor's products.

Moreover, the iPhone 8 is also speculated to sport an all-glass back, a new Touch ID and 3D Touch system, wireless charging, and a new A11 processor. Additionally, it may also improve its dust and water protection from IP 67 to IP 68, which will make it waterproof up to a certain depth.

In the meantime, fans will have to wait until fall of 2017 to see what Apple has to offer next year.
