iPhone 7 specs rumors, features news: Second speakers proposed for next iPhone variant

Even though there is no certainty yet on what the actual iPhone 7 will feature, there is word that the patented 3.5-millimeter headphone jacks are history.

Such has been in the air for quite some time now, although Apple will reportedly offer Lightning earpods instead. There is still the usual wireless means where folks can use Bluetooth headsets as they please.

Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn have made an interesting suggestion via Apple Insider. Their suggestion calls for the possible addition of a second speaker which will take the place of the removed headphone port.

The addition of such could make sense only that it may not be directional if positioned in the old headphone jack position. Then again, all that can be offset by the one who owns the phone to render better quality audio.

The overall quality of that second speaker remains to be seen, although Cirrus Logic will allegedly be behind all that. Cirrus Logic is the same group that will be behind the noise-cancelling technology of future earpods.

Even though it wasn't mentioned or directly linked, the idea may have come from HTC's phone line-up, particularly the HTC One M8 and M9.

If Apple is successful, it will be interesting to see if they can render the same polished audio playback which has been a hit for people who prefer to share audio using their mobile device. In all likelihood, better sound delivery will be aided with some noise cancelling-technology and some special apps.

The next question now is whether or not that feature would be out and in time for Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 7.

Apple is likely to unveil the iPhone 7 by September, the usual month it introduces its next iPhone variants. With a span of about seven months, the process of considering, approving, and implementing it on the next device may be too close to call.
