iPhone 7 specs and features rumors: Phone thinner than iPhone 6 and has OLED screen?

The height and width of the iPhone 7 will likely be the same as those of the iPhone 6, it but might be 1 mm thinner than its predecessor.

This is according to the report by MacOtakara, which is in line with the thoughts of KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo back in September of 2015.

The report also said that Apple will be ditching the 3.5 mm headphones jack with a Lightning port. This may be the reason for the reduction in the iPhone 7's thickness. A stereo speaker is also expected to replace the mono speaker the current model has.

Additionally, it may still be using the same metal case, the 7000 series aluminum, which may incorporate the camera lens. Speaking of lens, the iPhone 7 will have a single lens, while the iPhone 7 Plus may have the rumored dual-lens feature.

Apple Insider also stated that, according to sources familiar with the matter, the Cupertino-based tech giant had a discussion with LG and Samsung about increasing its OLED screen manufacturing for it to make it in time for the iPhone 7's scheduled unveiling. Apple reportedly wants to take advantage of the OLED screen's ability to form curved edges and conform to the handset's overall design. If this rumor proves to be true, then it is one year earlier than many expected the technology to be featured on the phone.

Apple is also said to have discussed production issues with its 16-nanometerchip supplier, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company or TSMC. DigiTimes stated that the Taiwanese company will be doubling its chip production, from 40,000 last month to 80,000 in March. It is also rumored that TSMC is the primary or sole manufacturer of the rumored A10 processor for the iPhone 7.

It has also been believed that Cirrus Logic, based in Austin, Texas, will be providing the amplifier circuitry for the dual-speakers.

Other recent news surrounding the next iPhone is that there will be a third model to be released, an iPhone 7 Pro – containing the dual-lens camera system. This will put the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with a single-lens camera, MacRumors reported.

The iPhone 7 is likely to be unveiled in September.
