Apple always packed something new in each iPhone they have released. Now, with the rumored iPhone 7, tech enthusiasts are predicting new features, including iOS 10, a dual-lens camera, lightning port, waterproof body, and better battery life. Moreover, it is said to be unhackable.
Announcement of Apple's newest operating system normally takes place during their Worldwide Developers Conference, which happens around June. Thus, many are expecting that the iPhone 7 will arrive with the new -- currently unannounced -- iOS 10.
At the software level, new features are likely to be introduced. iOS 9.3 already showcases Night Mode, fresh 3D Touch shortcuts and more, so it can be deduced that these and even newer features will be seen in future iPhones and iPads, including the rumored iPhone 7.
Gottabemobile said that a better camera might come with the iPhone 7. Many are suggesting that it will have a 12MP sensor that can produce DSLR-like images and may even include optical zooming options. A dual-lens system that may incorporate LinX technology is also not out of the question, and this can provide sharper quality for zoomed-in images.
There might also be some developments with regard to the storage capacity of the upcoming phone. It is speculated that a 256GB variant may be available. An upgraded processor will also likely be included -- A10 -- with either a 2GB or 3GB RAM.
Design-wise, many are speculating that the upcoming iPhone will be thinner. The headphones jack is reportedly out, the lightning port in. However, fans are not happy with that rumor; they even created a "Keep the standard headphone jack" petition, which has collected close to 300,000 petitioners thus far. With this, Apple may then just trim a few millimeters off the jack, similar to a patent numbered 9,142,908.
Macworld reported that among the other rumors surrounding the body designs are a button-less design, non-metal body, curved wraparound screen, a flexible body and a liquidmetal chassis. It is also said that the iPhone 7 will have Sapphire glass or Project Phire Gorilla glass.
And with the recent Apple vs. FBI disagreement regarding the hacking of an iPhone, the company is said to be working on an unhackable phone that even Apple's engineers can do nothing about, even if requested. It is also being suggested that the iPhone 7 will be waterproof as well as dustproof.
There are many more rumors surrounding the iPhone 7; however, these can only be confirmed once it has been unveiled.
