iPad mini 3 price news: Discounts being offered by retailers; iPad Air 3 to arrive soon?

The iPad mini 3 is being offered at discounted prices by several retailers in the United States. The way many look at this is Apple's next generation tablet, the iPad Air 3, might be on its way.

Best Buy is currently offering the iPad mini 3 on clearance sale. A silver-colored one with 16GB storage, Wi-Fi and Cellular connectivity is being offered for $343.99 instead of its regular price of $529.99, which gives customers a $186 savings. Another silver iPad mini 3 with 64GB internal storage is priced at $399.99 instead of $499.99. There are several more iPad mini 3s available.

All iPad mini 3 purchases at Best Buy are entitled to free shipping plus six months worth of free subscription to the Titanium Internet Security program, which is good for up to three devices with any of the following operating systems: Android, iOS, Mac and Windows.

Amazon is also offering discounts on its iPad mini 3 stocks. The 16GB silver-colored unit and the 16GB with Retina Display are each selling for $300.00, while the gold-colored one is priced at $313.00. Items will be shipped free of charge.

The iPad mini 3 specifications include a 7.9-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with a 1536 x 2048 pixel screen resolution. It is powered by a dual-core Cyclone (Apple A7) processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. It also comes with 1GB of RAM and various sizes of internal memory.

Meanwhile, the iPad Air 3 failed to materialize last year, so many are speculating that it will finally be unveiled this coming month. Among its rumored specs are improved internals of, possibly, an A9X or A10 chip; a 4K display giving out a 2334 x 3112 pixel screen resolution; 3 GB of memory; and an improved 8 MP camera with LED flash for night shots, as reported by TechRadar.

It is also rumored to be having 3D Touch technology, a four-speaker setup, and a magnetic Smart Connector for the accessories like a keyboard.

An Apple special event is said to be happening on March 15.
