iPad Air 3 release date: new tablet to be media and entertainment powerhouse

The current iPad Air 2 iteration from Apple. Apple

Apple fans were disappointed when Apple did not launch a new iPad Air last September. However, speculations say hardcore fans who are waiting anxiously for a new adequately sized iPad will not have that long to wait.

According to IBTimes, although the iPad Pro has just been released, it was already a part of some Apple deals. Big discounts on Apple's newest iPad products led to rumors that Apple may already be gearing for an iPad Air 3 release in the early months of next year, March at the earliest.

If the rumors are proven true, Cupertino-based Apple will have deviated a little bit from its iPad Air schedule releases. The original iPad Air was launched in October 2013, while its follow-up was seen on the market in October last year. There were rumors that Apple did not originally plan a 2016 release for the iPad Air 3, and looking at the customary release window, fans should've already seen the new iPad Air iteration. However, it was said that Apple had to choose between the new products, and the iPad Air 3 eventually gave way to the iPad Pro and the new iPad Mini 4.

Meanwhile, since Apple is not in the habit of releasing the tech specs of its products prior to launch dates, the specs of the new iPad Air 2016 remain unconfirmed, with only rumors floating online. According to observers, the iPad Air 3 will carry features that would make it an entertainment and media powerhouse. Apparently, it will feature a new A9X chipset with at least 3- or even 4-GB RAM, and an improved 9.7-inch 4K screen. In addition, the new iPad Air 3 is also rumored to have improved cameras, better battery life, and a fingerprint sensor.
