Apple updates its iOS platform one version higher each year. For iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch users, this means that this year, the new iOS 9 will roll out.

The company has been mum on the details regarding the upcoming version, especially the specific date for the beta and official releases. However, with the way that Apple is now doing with its most recent build, it seems that the next iOS will first be seeded and beta versions released before the official version is unveiled.

Codenamed "Monarch," it is rumored that the new operating system for Apple mobile devices will launch as a preview in the middle of the year, at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2015. This means that the beta test for the new platform might come out in summer, with the official release to be announced alongside the next Apple flagship line up in the latter part of the year.

Ahead of the beta announcement, a version is reportedly being tested and developed, separate of the newly announced iOS 8.4 build. According to Macworld, a tech writer contacted them after he discovered that iOS 9 versions showed up in the analytics for his website.

What would be the significant changes for the upcoming iOS 9 build? According to Apple observers, the upcoming iOS will focus on stability and performance against that of iOS 8's intro of new features. The drawback with iOS 8 is that when it introduced new features such as Touch ID and feature tweaks, it also left itself open to a host of glitches and bugs. iOS 9, on the other hand, will reportedly center on under-the-hood improvements and further integration of wireless-based apps such as CarPlay and the rumored upcoming music stream service. The upcoming iOS will also be made leaner, as opposed to iOS 8's 4.6 GB requirement.
