Weeks after formally unveiling the upcoming platform at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple has seeded the second phase of the beta version of iOS 9 to developers.
The upcoming iOS 9 is expected to be released this fall following a public beta program, to test how it would integrate to existing Apple devices. The beta phase is also done to iron out any glitches on the operating system, and for users to discover new issues and bugs.
The iOS 9 beta 2 builds up on the first beta phase, bringing several platform enhancements to the iOS structure, as well as introducing new features for Apple users. The recently-released version brings improved connectivity for the AirPlay feature, as well as enhancements to native apps like Maps and Notes. The tweak also enhanced the Mail app, which no longer crashes when printing a message. The new modes introduced to the earlier iOS 9 version, split-screen multitasking for the iPad along with a revamped keyboard, were also improved.
Perhaps the most notable improved feature for the upcoming iOS 9 is the addition of the battery optimization option, which gives iOS devices at least an additional hour of battery life. The new iOS beta version has an improved Low Power Mode that extends the battery even further, which, of course, would still depend on how heavy the usage is.
The new iOS 9 beta is now available for download at Apple's Developer page. For those who have registered their Apple IDs to the Apple Insider program, the update can also be downloaded over the air, which would be downloaded automatically via a notification. Meanwhile, the public beta for the upcoming iOS 9 is expected to be confirmed by July, and Apple might wait for at least three or four developer beta versions before finally making the iOS 9 available to the public.
