Apple's latest iPhone 7 comes preloaded with iOS 10, which was released recently. Now, the device has already been jailbroken. The owner of which is none other than Luca Todesco.
Motherboard reported that the 19-year old hacker, who is also known as qwertyoruiop in the jailbreak community, has jailbroken his own iPhone 7 24 hours after he got his hands on it. He exploited a series of bugs that he found out and worked his way from there.
Todesco said to the publication in a message: "They definitely made my life harder. The iPhone 7 is a step in the right direction. Obviously it's not 100 percent secure—like nothing else is."
However, he has no plans of sharing it with the community at the moment, and will keep the details to himself. He may even decide to report it to Apple to avail of its "bug bounty" program for newly released programs, but he remains unsure. He, however, plans to look for more bugs and do more debugging on the latest iOS. The teenage hacker also shared a video of his new iPhone 7 running iOS 10.0.1 loaded with Cydia.
Geek also added that it could be a fake, but Todesco has a solid record of accomplishment when it comes to jailbreaking iOS. He has videos to support his claims, although he has never shared his discoveries and achievements.
Todesco is said to be planning on making his latest jailbreak version work by simply clicking a link from the Safari browser, similar to what has been achieved with the iPhone 4,
Jailbreaking iOS devices is being done for quite a while already. It takes away restrictions imposed by the manufacturer, in this case, Apple, and gives unlimited access to the root core of the operating system. Jailbroken devices will allow the download and installation of any type of apps and extensions, tagged either safe or unsafe by the tech giant. That is the greatest advantage for hacking into the operating system. The price for this is that a device is more vulnerable to everything bad on the internet, like virus and malware.
Meanwhile, Apple has already released iOS 10.1 to developers, a major point update, which is likely to include bug fixes and possibly minor tweaks and features to the latest mobile operating system.
