International Women's Day 2016: 5 Bible verses to remember your unique giftings as a woman

As the world celebrates International Women's Day, it is rightful to celebrate the strength of women using the Holy Book, which is among the first literary works that marvels at the contributions of women dating back to the time of Christ and even before.

The Holy Bible in fact has a wealth of verses and sayings that are still being embraced and used by the modern women of today, proving that even if society has evolved, the essence of the female gender and the strength of their spirit endures whatever trials and adversities they have had to conquer.  And in the most parts, these have propelled their husbands, brothers and sons into greater heights.

Proverbs 31:25 is among the verses that celebrate the inner strength of a woman as well as her ability to find joy amid aversity – "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come," the Bible verse reads.

A follow up to the verse is Proverbs 31:26 which states:

"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue," which speaks of a woman's ability to share her wisdom and share kindness, serving as the foundation, especially for the young and for those whom she meets, to share positivity and good will.

Another verse from Proverbs 31:10-31 states:

"An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. ..."

This verse speaks of the resilience and the importance of a wife to her husband, a value that cannot be matched by material wealth.

Proverbs 31:30 speaks of a woman who honors God, which is far more lasting and substantial than physical beauty.

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised," the verse reads.

Psalm 46:5 speaks of God's love for a woman of strong faith and his unwavering support for her – "God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day."
