HTC Butterfly 3, One A9 (Aero) release date, specs rumors: Smartphones coming this month?

HTC has sent out an invitation to the press for an event scheduled on Sept. 29. It is in this affair, which will take place in its home fort Taiwan, that the tech firm will introduce two flagships. However, it did not mention what these "dual flagships" are. Other than the tagline "The World Best Meets the Best," there's nothing more to take away.

But rumor mills already have some guesses. There's word that the HTC One A9 and the HTC Butterfly 3 will be the stars of the show. These handsets have been profusely leaked in the past weeks. The latter, which is codenamed Aero, was expected to be introduced last Sunday but the company introduced the mid-ranger HTC Desire 728 instead.

According to media outlets, there's also the possibility that the "dual flagships" are the HTC Butterfly 3 and the HTC M9 Plus, which will feature an improved primary camera. Not much is known about the latter device except that its shooter is getting optical image stabilization and faster focusing.

The rumored specs of the HTC Butterfly 3 include a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, and a 20 MP/ 13 MP camera combo. It is expected to be marketed by next month with a price of $637 (€570), presumably as an Asia-exclusive phone.

As for the HTC One A9 aka Aero, reports claim it will be driven by a MediaTek deca-core processor. It will reportedly get 4 GB RAM and a display of unknown size that renders at full HD (1080p) or QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels). As per Softpedia, the device is expected to lay to rest the criticism for HTC's current flagship, the One M9 so it is expected to don a different design language and a set of high-end specs. The One A9 could be sold internationally.
