Houston Rockets roster rumors 2015: Will it be Beverly or Lawson starting at point?

The Houston Rockets have addressed their needs from last season, signing up controversial point guard Ty Lawson to hone up its point guard requirements.

Everyone knows the struggle that the Rockets had to deal with, particularly when Patrick Beverly went down to injury. Jason Terry was around but after him, there was no one else to help out in playmaking duties.

Now, all of that has been resolved with Lawson. Although he is still undergoing rehab for driving under the influence (DUI) issues, Lawson is upbeat about helping the Rockets this coming season.

His entry does, of course, make the Rockets a team to reckon with, assuming that he sets his mind to basketball and avoid the distractions, which mostly occur outside the basketball court. Harden believes that Lawson will be a valuable addition and the person that the Rockets actually need to succeed in the coming season.

So with a healthy Beverly and a rejuvenated Lawson, who does Kevin McHale start at point for the coming season?

The answer to that is seemingly a no-brainer.

If Beverly is 100% healthy, he is the most logical guy to start at point. If not, Jason Terry could get the nod next and then Lawson.

Why would Lawson be the last option? Well for one, he is new. He needs to get adjusted to the system of coach Kevin McHale, not to mention blend in with his new teammates.

So for the early part of the season, don't expect Lawson to start. Once he adapts to the Rockets' system and show his true worth, then perhaps one can look forward to his incremental insertion into the starting lineup.

Hence, the decision is not personal nor tied up with his run-ins outside the NBA. It is more on chemistry issues surrounding his arrival, something that could have been eased had he not been spending most of his time right now on rehab for DUI charges.
