House of Cards season 3 release date: Will Netflix premiere next series in February 2015? [Video]

House of Cards season 2

House of Cards season 2 returned to Netflix today with explosive new episodes to keep fans busy. Fans have already begun binge-watching the return of Kevin Spacey's Frank Underwood, who kicks off the new series as Vice President.

The season one finale saw Underwood receive the President's offer to be the Vice President, and reporter Zoe Barnes, played by Kate Mara, investigating closer to the truth about Frank's corrupt past with fellow journalist friends.

The new season takes viewers with surprising twists and turns with Frank Underwood's role as VP.

The American political drama began filming the second set of 13 episodes in April last year, primarily in Baltimore, and finally launched on Feb. 14, 2014.

Before the launch of the second series, Netflix confirmed that the popular political drama series has been renewed for a third season.

Robin Wright, who plays Claire Underwood and the Second Lady, recently told TheWrap that the cast and crew will start shooting the third series soon. "We start shooting season three soon," she said on Feb. 4. "We're only on the second season so far. When you think about all the other shows that have gone on five, six, eight seasons. We're amateurs in a sense. We're Bambis in the woods." When asked if she can see the show going until eight seasons, she said, "Sure, bring it on."

So when will House of Cards season 3 launch on Netflix?

It has been ten months since fiming for House of Cards season 2 began in April 2014 for it to premiere on Netflix in February 2014. That being said, the first season of House of Cards launched on February 1, 2013. This gives about a 12-month time-line for brand new seasons to launch on Netflix.

According to Netflix's release schedule for the past two seasons of House of Cards, we can expect the drama's third season to complete filming this year and a premiere date to be some time around February 2015.
