It will be such a letdown for fans of the hit series "Homeland" if Rupert Quinn (Rupert Friend) will not be returning for season 6.
Season 5 finale ended with Quinn appearing to have let go of his strenuous hold to life, while his ladylove sat beside him. Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) looked like she has accepted Quinn's fate and that she was happy he was already at a place where he feels no pain and suffering. Quinn had massive brain hemorrhage after succumbing to the effects of the sarin gas. The jihadists used him as the sacrificial lamb for the world to see what they were planning for the people of Berlin.
While the terrorists were apprehended before they could do harm, Quinn's condition has been touch and go ever since Carrie found him. The final glimpse that viewers saw of the pair was Carrie pulling the plug of her lover's life support system and peacefully watching him go. A bewildering light then invaded the room, which some saw as the ghost of Quinn finally saying goodbye. If Quinn is indeed dead, Design & Trend believes that it will "hurt the plot moving forward," as he is one character the series cannot afford to let go.
The website feels that Quinn is the perfect antithesis for Carrie, as he is the "brute-force alternative" to her "smart spy games." Without their tandem, the whole story will reportedly fall flat, and the showrunners will not want that for their final season. In an interview with Variety, executive producer Lesli Linka Glatter remained mum over Quinn's supposed demise and chose to praise Friend for his superb contribution to the series.
"What incredible work Rupert (Friend) has done this season! He's just extraordinary. I feel so lucky as a director to be working with this cast. It certainly has made me more fearless," she said.
"Homeland" season 6 is expected to premiere in 2016.
