Nostalgia will hit fans of "Heroes" really hard when "Heroes Reborn" premieres on Sept. 24. To set up the story of the new generation of super-powered humans, the new series will begin with the death of Claire.

Claire, portrayed by Hayden Panettiere, was a cheerleader who had the ability to regenerate. Thus, the original show's tagline "Save the cheerleader, save the world" came about. When "Heroes" ended, she revealed her abilities to the world and that many others with special powers like hers exist. Claire died once in the original series but she was able to resurrect herself. This time, though, she really is dead for good.

A new trailer for "Heroes Reborn" shows that for the evolved humans, or Evos as they are addressed, it is now more than just about saving the beloved cheerleader, it is about saving the future. The show will premiere with an episode aptly titled "Brave New World," which is set in the same universe as its parent series, one that is aware of the existence of Evos.

The heroes are initially not willing to go on such superhero-y ventures. Mankind believes that a tragedy that struck the world and cost millions of lives was the doing of these so-called evolved humans. This led the Evos to conceal their true selves and eventually go into hiding. But they could shut themselves out from the world only for a while, as the time has come that the world that hunts and condemns them need the service only extraordinary individuals like them can provide.

This will be the start of the adventures of the new generation of heroes. Original characters from "Heroes" will return in the new series. These include Masi Oka, Jack Coleman and Greg Grunberg. New cast members include Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Ryan Guzman, Henry Zebrowski, Gatlin Green, Rya Kihlstedt, Kiki Sukezane and Zachary Levi.

Tune into NBC tonight to watch the season premiere of 'Heroes Reborn.' Alternatively, episodes can be viewed online via live steram on NBC.com
