Expect the events of the Season 6 finale to have a repercussion on McGarrett and Danny's relationship when Hawaii Five-O returns for Season 7.

It can be recalled that the last episode had McGarrett (Alex O' Loughlin) almost losing his life if not for Danny's (Scott Caan) act of donating half of his liver to his partner.

The pair's relationship has had its ups and downs for the duration of the series, as both men have been known to butt heads and disagree on their approach to some of their cases. Still, their friendship enters a new level with McGarrett's new lease of life because of his new liver.

But what should really bring them together may also be the same reason that the two will argue even more, said showrunner Peter M. Lenkov.

"It brings Danny and McGarrett even closer together and it gives them another thing to be arguing about next year. I love the idea that McGarrett is going to abuse that organ because McGarrett is a person who abuses himself and puts his life in danger all the time," Lenkov said.

On the other hand, the showrunner, in another interview with Entertainment Weekly said that his near death experience would also make McGarrett question whether putting his life on the line is all worth it.

"He's going to look back and say, 'What's my legacy here? I almost died. He just starts to reflect on everything, the choices that he's made and looks for a reason to continue doing what he's doing," he said.

According to Premiere Date TV, the show was renewed as early as March by CBS because of its solid 8.8 million average viewership per episode. While there is no official date for the Season 7 premiere, it is expected to release sometime this fall.
