Harvard bomb threat: 4 buildings evacuated, FBI on scene as final exams canceled

A bomb threat has been reported at the prestigious Harvard University campus.

Four buildings at the university's campus were forced to evacuate after the school's police department received reports of explosives.

Harvard University stated: "Out of an abundance of caution, the buildings have been evacuated while the report is investigated. Harvard's focus is on the safety of our students, faculty and staff."

The college reportedly received the bomb threats just after 9 a.m. this morning. The buildings that have been evacuated are the Science Center, Sever Hall, Emerson Hall and Thayer Hall.

The university tweeted and emergency alert: "Alert: Unconfirmed reports of explosives at four sites on campus: Science Center, Thayer, Sever, and Emerson. Evacuate those buildings now."

Students at the Ivy League university were scheduled to take final exams today. The exams have now been cancelled due to the threats.

The campus police department, Cambridge Police Department, the Secret Service and FBI are said to be investigating the scene.

Harvard's website also stated: "The campus community will be notified through a variety of mechanisms including the Web, email and voicemail."
