'Grimm' season 5 plot spoilers: No romance yet for Nick, Adalind

Fans of Adalind (Claire Coffee) and Nick (David Giuntoli) in the NBC series "Grimm" are hoping the pair will finally take their relationship to the next level, after the tight hug they shared last week.

During the "Maiden Quest" episode, Nick moved his family to a warehouse to keep them safe. Adalind asked him to stay in her room to watch over their son, Kelly, as she was still afraid something bad would happen. At the end, she finally broke down and admitted to Nick that she was worried about him. The two shared an embrace, but unfortunately for shippers, they did not kiss.

Giuntoli, however, was quick to say that there would not be any romantic link between his character and Adalind, at least in the foreseeable future. In his interview with Zap2it, he said that for now, Nick was focused on avenging the death of his mother and his lover.

The birth of his kid has, of course, made things more complicated, as he could not completely embrace fatherhood with retribution in mind. Although he would be involved in protecting Kelly, being in a romantic relationship with the baby's mother remains still out of the question.

"The connective tissue between Adalind and Nick is simply of being parents. Nick's gonna get out of that house, find a bunker somewhere, and if Adalind is gonna be a good mother, he'll keep her around," the actor said.

Meanwhile, Giuntoli also hinted that viewers should expect more deaths as the season progresses. It appears that Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) will not be the only character to be mourned, as the series becomes more dangerous.

"I'll say this: No character is safe any longer. We've been on for four years already, we can start shaking it up," Giuntoli also shared.

"Grimm" season 5 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
