Owners of GoPro action cams will soon be able to freely edit and come up with video shorts mere minutes after it was recorded.

GoPro's flagship lineup of action cameras cater to everything, from simple home videos to extreme sports motion captures. However, creating polished shorts, or snippets of videos, out of GoPro footages usually requires users to be knowledgeable in video editing and skilled at trimming these recordings. Creating the videos also require third-party editing software and a bit of time. GoPro is about to make it more convenient for users.

In a report by tech industry observer TechCrunch, GoPro is slated to come out with a mobile video editing app that will allow users to trim down and edit videos straight from their mobile device. Company president Tony Bates revealed this detail in a recent investor's meeting. In addition, Bates said that GoPro has already decided on launching an app some time ago, and the feature is already in its final testing stages. GoPro is expecting that that full version of the mobile video editing app can be finished and rolled out by the end of summer.

No other details on the app were divulged in the meeting. However, observers say that if the feature will have an app-like function, it would most likely be downloaded straight from iOS and Android app stores and will be synced with GoPro cameras. This means that users can immediately send their GoPro recordings to their phones and make video edits on the spot.

Recently, GoPro launched a new flagship lineup for its action cams, the Hero+ LCD. This new action cam comes equipped with on-camera editing, so that users can easily edit their recordings. In addition, the Hero+ LCD can also be synced directly to an editing software on the user's desktop.
