'Google Nexus 6' release date news, specs updates: phone lands November with Android Nougat 7.1

With Google's Nexus 6 set for announcement on Oct. 16 and a November release, fans already can't contain their excitement over the innovations that the latest phone from Motorola has to offer.

According to a report by Nexus 6 Updates, the phone will be a better version of the Moto X.

In terms of design, the phone is expected to adopt the signature look of the Moto X, but will be a bigger version of the earlier phone at 5.9 inches since Google is seeking to tap into the phablet market.

The device is expected to utilize a Snapdragon 805 Qualcomm processor with 2.7GHZ, leading to faster performance. It will also feature 3 GB RAM. Based on reports, the phone will be available in two variants: one with 32 GB of internal memory and another variant with 64 GB.

It is also rumored that while the rear camera will feature sharp images at 13 megapixels, the front snapper will only be 2 megapixels which may prove to be a bummer for selfie afficionados.

The good news, though, is that its display will enable users to view images better as it will feature a QuadHD display. With the larger screen, it is expected that the phone will pose serious competition in the phablet market in terms of screen performance since some smartphones lose image quality due to the larger screen.

For heavy device users, the new device will be powered by a 3220mAh battery but the downside is that it makes the phone appear bulky compared to other phones that pride themselves on being lightweight. The battery contributes to the phone's 184 grams in total weight. However, the Turbo Chargers by Motorola can power up the phone by up to six hours in only 15 minutes.

Fans of the Google OS will be happy to note that the Nexus 6 will feature Android L, the latest in the line of Google OS. One of the major advantages of this new OS, aside from its funky design, is its battery saving feature which can boost battery life by up to 90 minutes.

The phone is expected to cost around $699 without a contract and will be available in midnight blue and cloud white.

Meanwhile, a report by Game N' Guide hinted that the phone, as well as the Nexus 9 LTE, will soon be updated to Android 7.1 Nougat.
