Google is reportedly working on an upgraded version of its Google Glass product. However, it seems that the relaunching of the overhauled peripheral will be aimed not at the general consumer, but rather for the enterprise market.
Dubbed as the Enterprise Edition, recent reports suggest that the next Google Glass will have significant improvements over the previous consumer Explorer version. According to Google observer site 9to5Google, the Enterprise Edition will sport an Intel Atom processor and a larger prism display.
The upgraded Intel Atom CPU is integral to the new Glass' improvements, since this will bring the Enterprise improved battery life and performance specs. In addition, the new Google Glass will also have an optional battery pack, making the peripheral last longer for all-day use.
Meanwhile, the new prism display is the result of Google looking to remedy the issues that cropped up related to the previous Explorer Edition. Numerous reports of eye strain problems after prolonged use surfaced in connection with the Google Glass Explorer, and so the company decided to overhaul the display design by extending and enlarging the prism to make the user more comfortable looking through the glass directly instead of straining to look up and to the right of the device.
In addition to the new display and improved specs, it is also speculated that the next Google Glass version will have cool new interface options, including finger framing. It has been unearthed that Google has filed a patent for hand-triggered photography. In this interface, all a wearer has to do is to finger frame, or form a frame with their index and thumbs, around a subject to capture an image. The Google Glass will then recognize this gesture as an "image shoot command" and will snap a photo. In addition, the Glass will also recognize the wearer making an "O" gesture with the hands and will snap a circular image instead.
