Golden State Warriors roster news 2015: Harrison Barnes staying?

Harrison Barnes is currently out of commission due to a knee injury, but the more important thing at hand is his future with the Golden State Warriors.

Barnes has yet to sign the contract extension with the Warriors. However, teammate Andrew Bogut shared in his column for NBA Australia, according to Sportal, that he believes the forward will eventually remain with the team.

Apparently, Barnes is taking a page out of the Tristan Thompson case, believing that he can get more next offseason. With salary caps expected to spike, Barnes believes he stands to earn more as a restricted free agent, although the Warriors can always choose to match it as long as it is within their boundaries.

Unlike Thompson, Barnes has proven his worth. He was another key guy in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals and is an integral part of the Warriors franchise.

Despite the issue of money tied up with Barnes' stint with the Warriors, Bogut remains confident that Barnes is smart enough to do what he feels is best for him.

But then again, Bogut admits that anything is possible; there could be a chance that Barnes may eventually leave. That is, apparently, something he and the rest of the Warriors don't want to see.

Right now, it remains to be seen if Barnes will indeed sign a contract extension or not.

Barnes had already shunned the $64 million contract offer placed on the table by the Warriors and the reason is obviously that salary cap hike that most players are eagerly looking forward to.

All is not lost, however, since Barnes seems to be intent on sticking with the Warriors. The only thing left out is perhaps how much money is on the table, with the forward comparing it with the sum he could get in free agency next season.
