"God of War" is undeniably one of the games that has developed a solid following throughout its run, with loyal fans even following the game across different consoles to make sure that they go through the whole journey with Kratos, the God of War.
Now that the franchise is set to release its fourth installment, fans are keeping themselves updated on the latest development and release dates for the next chapter, Digital Spy reported.
Fans were earlier disappointed about the reports that no new developments will be announced at December's Playstation Experience in Anaheim, California but the latest updates about the game will definitely appease them.
A listing on Amazon, has a placeholder date of December 29, 2017 listed for "God of War 4," and while this is yet to be confirmed by Sony or Santa Monica Studio as the final release date for the game, it is even earlier than the 2018 release date projected by fans of the franchise.
The online retailer has already opened its site for "God of War 4" pre-orders. Included in the site information is the guaranteed $59.99 price for pre-orders. The Amazon listing also gives a teaser for the storyline that the game will follow, and it mentions Kratos as a father to his son, which is a new angle for the game to explore.
"His vengeance against the gods of Olympus far behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the lands of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive... and teach his son to do the same," reads the listing. Kratos will also have to face and conquer the rage that has long plagued him in order to save his son from the torment that he went through.
The game will be set in terrains like forests, mountains, and the various realms of Norse lore. "God of War 4" will also feature detailed physical combat in an close-up view using over the shoulder cameras, which will be a new perspective for gamers.
Some reports speculate that the game will be released in 2017, but there is still no confirmation about the game's official release date from Santa Monica Studio.
