'Game of Thrones' Kit Harrington recalls first encounter with co-star Emilia Clarke

"Game of Thrones" stars Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke's characters (Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, respectively) have been the talk of the town following the steamy scenes in season 7. While some continue to ship the onscreen couple, the actor — who is already engaged to Rose Leslie (Ygritte) — recalled the first time he met Clarke and described what it was like.

For Harington and Clarke, rumors about a possible real-life romance between them might not be a novel experience. Since they first appeared in the popular HBO series, fans have been eager to link their characters to each other. Fortunately, the show granted their demands when season 7 featured a steamy union of Jon and Daenerys. It apparently gave everyone hope for an off-screen relationship although the actor is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend and co-star Leslie.

While it is true that Harington is already in a committed relationship, fans could not help but wonder about his first reaction upon meeting Clarke. Speaking to Elle magazine, the hunk recalled, "I remember vividly the first time I met Emilia, which was in the hotel bar in Belfast, before season one. I was sort of bowled over by this absolutely stunning, petite girl with this wicked sense of humor. We became very fast friends quite quickly."

The pair has such a great chemistry on screen, but in reality, they are just good friends. Though Clarke may not be dating anyone at the moment, the actress revealed she is a big fan of Harington and Leslie. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she gushed, "My goodness! You know, we like to spread the love on our show. It's a beautiful thing. She's one of my best friends, so it's good."

Harington and Leslie first met on the set of "Game of Thrones" and stirred romance rumors in 2012. The actress starred in the show as Jon's love interest, Ygritte, but her character died in season 4. Despite that, fans love knowing that the fictional characters found their happy ending in real life.
