One of the things that Samsung hopes to steadily improve for its next flagship is its camera. According to the speculations, the South Korean company is in talks with another tech manufacturer known to be an expert in it.

According to a report from SamMobile, the company is currently in talks with Japanese company Sony. This is in regard to placing Sony's IMX300 camera sensor for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S7. If the talks push through, the next Samsung flagship could carry the same camera as the Xperia Z5, the latest offering from Sony with the IMX300 sensor.

The three variants of the Xperia Z5 are all carrying the IMX300 sensor technology. Sony smartphones are known to produce stunning images through its shooters, and as the latest flagship, the Xperia Z5 is at the top of the list. The recently released lineup even has a strong impression over at DxOMark, one of the leading companies that regularly test and analyze camera technology.

The speculations remain as hearsay, though, since it was also earlier reported that Samsung is already developing a new 20-MP ISOCELL sensor for the next Galaxy S iteration. The same ISOCELL sensors are present on some versions of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 variants.

However, according to Phone Arena, if the talks with Sony push through, fans may see at least two camera versions of the Galaxy S7. The IMX300 and ISOCELL sensors, if they become present on the next flagship, will also dovetail with recent speculations that Samsung is going to release at least two versions of the device, with different specs for each. According to the rumor mill, Samsung is planning to release an Exynos variant, and another version with a Snapdragon 820 processor.

Although Samsung has not commented on any speculation, fans might see if the rumors are true come January, as it was also reported that the company will be pushing for an early release of the Galaxy S7.
