'Samsung Galaxy Note 5' features and specs: Device will not have removable battery and microSD support

Images that leaked online reportedly show the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 from Samsung. However, the pictures only show the front panel and display, and the rumors that Samsung will discard removable batteries and expandable storage on the new Note remain unconfirmed. However, recent pictures that surfaced show the new Galaxy Note in all its design glory. While the new Note looks incredibly superb for a premium flagship, the images also show that indeed, Samsung will be pushing through with its decision to not include a removable back panel for the device.

Pictures that surfaced on tech website Droid Life, supposedly coming from confirmed sources, show the new Galaxy Note 5 on all its sides. Checking the images, Samsung fans will see that the upcoming Note bears close resemblance to another flagship product, the Galaxy S6. Subtle differences, however, make the new Note stand out. The leaked pictures particularly show where the S Pen can be retrieved, and according to rumors, will be placed in a spring-loaded space.

The new device also looks a bit bigger than the previous Galaxy Note 4. Rumors suggest that the Note 5 may come out with at least a 5.9- or a flat-out 6-inch display, the same as the S6 Edge Plus.

Meanwhile, checking both the back and side parts of the new handset reveals that the Galaxy Note 5 will have a glass back design on a metal frame. Sealing the smartphone in a metal chassis means that the Note 5 will skew with removable battery and expandable storage, unlike its predecessor. In addition, contrary to speculations, the upcoming Note also sports a standard USB port and not the rumored Type-C.

To compensate for the sealed design, the new Note 5 will come out in three versions, 32-, 64-, and 128-GB options. Additionally, the smartphone will also be run on a 3000 mAh battery.

The new Galaxy Note 5 is rumored to be released in the upcoming Samsung event on Aug.13. Aside from the new Note, Samsung is also reportedly coming out with another device flagship, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
