Floyd Mayweather next fight rumors 2016: Adrien Broner or Manny Pacquiao?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is suddenly back in the boxing headlines with word that the undefeated American boxer is set to make another return to the ring in 2016.

Mayweather announced last Sept. 12 after his unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto that it would be his last in the ring and that he had nothing more to prove. Although the choice of opponent for his alleged last match left a lot dismayed, not everyone was convinced that the Pretty Boy would really be calling it a career.

And now, perhaps that is coming into play.

There are two boxers reportedly in the cards — Adrien Broner and Manny Pacquiao.

Ring TV reporter Michael Woods claims that Mayweather is planning a comeback and his likely opponent would be Adrien Broner. Woods says that an anonymous tipster informed him of the plans and that the said fight stands to be a lucrative one.

But it seems that his opponent is not limited to Broner. This comes after Pacquiao reveals in a report from AFP that his camp is currently in talks with the Mayweather camp. Top Rank promoter Bob Arum quickly shot down those rumors and so did Pacquiao thereafter.

"He would like to fight Mayweather, but since this is his last fight, and looking at where we are on time, I told him he needs to forget about it and move on," Arum told the Los Angeles Times.

But the funny thing is the recent development that Amir Khan has pulled out from the negotiations. The British southpaw claims that Pacquiao is stalling and is more inclined to set a match with Mayweather than him due to competitive reasons.

Probably seeing that he stands to get shunned again, Khan had announced he was pulling out of talks and is instead moving forward to look for fighters to face. On his list are Danny Garcia, Timothy Bradley Jr., Lamont Peterson, and Kell Brook.
