The trash talking exchange between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ronda Rousey continues and things seem to be getting a bit chippy between the two.
The verbal jabs continue between the two sports figures, something that goes way back to the time when the reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women's Bantamweight champion took a swipe at the undefeated American boxing champ.
Rousey hit Mayweather with his domestic abuse woes and the undefeated American came back charging by telling the UFC female fighter of earning as much as him before speaking mouth.
From there the word-war seems to have gone a bit deeper, it became a matter of seeing who earned more and if Mayweather would have the guts to face Rousey in the ring.
Of course, such will never happen unless some crazy backer would come up with a wild idea to see Mayweather and Rousey face-off for some reason. Like charity maybe?
Just the same, Mayweather calls Rousey's rants as nothing more of a publicity stunt like other boxing opponents who wanted to get a crack at the undefeated boxer.
But the question is Rousey is not an ordinary fighter who seems to require fame. She is popular as well, although the question of how much money she makes compared to Mayweather could be up for debate.
Still and all, the proverbial jabs are something Mayweather has been used to. He knows how to handle these things and firing back is really something that helps both of them in their respective upcoming fights.
Mayweather is set to fight Andre Berto this coming Sept. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas. While his choice of opponent has become a questionable one, the publicity angle between him and Rousey somehow serves as an indirect campaign to promote the fight since Berto doesn't really have a following.
On the other hand, it could help Rousey too. She is set to face Holly Holm in 2016 and despite the former boxer-turned-mixed martial artist's impressive run in the UFC, such could help promote that match as well.
