Fans of the popular hit series "Final Fantasy" are reportedly gearing up for some major news at this year's Gamescom, as it is speculated that game developer Square Enix will be showcasing "Final Fantasy XV" at the upcoming gaming event. This hype is despite, or perhaps due to, the absence of the title from the Electronic Entertainment Expo last month, where the studio opted to focus on a demo release for another "Final Fantasy" title, "Type-0 HD."

The speculations were bolstered by a supposed leaked video of a gameplay demo running on DirectX12 on Windows 10. With the new platform coming out on July 29, this might mean that a more in-depth demo, or an updated one to the already-released "Episode Duscae," will be seen at the Gamescom which will be held on Aug. 8 in Cologne, Germany.

The supposedly leaked video also had fans excited as this means that "Final Fantasy XV" might make it to the PC.

While Square Enix has ported some of its title releases to PC, with the most recent one being "Final Fantasy XIV" last year, PC versions always come after the console releases, making "Final Fantasy" titles some sort of timed exclusives for console systems. Fans hope that Square Enix will make some changes to the "Final Fantasy XV" release schedules.

A PC version of the upcoming "Final Fantasy" game is a very popular topic for hardcore players, and Square Enix will do well listening to fans' demands. The clamor for an additional platform release is such that fans even started an online petition at Change.org to add a PC version to the supposedly console-only release of "Final Fantasy XV." The petition also asks that Square Enix time the release of the PC version to match the launch of the title for other platforms.
